“We just weren’t good enough today”

Reaction to the defeat to BVB

FSV 0-2 BVB

Niko Bungert: “It was kind of like the game against Leipzig, in that we played a really high quality team today. We managed to create our first good chance, then straight away conceded from a counter attack. That just shows Dortmund’s quality; it happens sometimes and was the slight difference between us today. We still fought so hard even after going down to ten men and managed to create a couple more chances. This isn’t going to just stop our momentum in its tracks – we still have two games next week against opponents who we’re looking to beat.”

“Good that we go again in three or four days”

Paul Nebel: “I missed my chance by centimetres, which is really annoying, but that’s just football. We had our chances, but I have to say that we didn’t bring our usual intensity out onto the pitch in that first half. We addressed that at half time, but being a man down makes things tricky. Despite that, we did okay, but just weren’t good enough in the end. We’re not just going to sit and cry about it – we have to keep working and get through periods like this where we aren’t playing the sort of football that we expect of ourselves. We believe in ourselves and we’ll get our rewards. Everyone is looking forward to Thursday – it’s what we’ve worked so hard for. Above all else I’m just looking forward to playing more football.”

Andreas Hanche-Olsen: “I don’t think today was good enough. Dortmund took their chances, we didn’t. The period before the first goal was crucial, as after that we didn’t create many big chances. We can’t blame Robin for the red card; it was just an unlucky series of events. We need to improve in a few areas if we want to win next week.”
