Nebel’s first goal helps Germany U21s secure quarter-final spot
Paul Nebel got his name on the score board for the first time at U21 level as Germany defeated Czechia 4-2.

Germany recorded their second victory at the European U21 Championship in just their second group game, beating Czechia 4-2 on Sunday night. With six points to their name, Germany have already made sure of a place in the quarter-finals.
The encounter also turned out to be rather positive from a Mainz perspective, since 05er Paul Nebel was not only named in the starting line-up once again but also made it 2-0 in the 41st minute of the contest to claim his first international goal at U21 level. Alongside Nebel, who left the field to a standing ovation when he was substituted at the conclusion of regulation time, Nelson Weiper also featured for Germany following his introduction in the 71st minute.
Tough test awaits on Wednesday
Germany play their final group game against England on Wednesday evening (21:00 CEST), with top spot in the standings on the line when they face the reigning champions. Germany’s U21s will then either take on Italy or Spain in the quarter-finals.
