05ers face Dymano Dresden in 2025/26 DFB-Pokal first round

1. FSV Mainz 05 will face Dynamo Dresden away from home in their first competitive fixture of the coming season between 15th and 18th August. This was decided by the draw for the first round of the 2025/26 DFB-Pokal on Sunday evening at the German Football Museum in Dortmund. The exact dates of the 32 matches will be finalised at a later date during the summer. It has already been confirmed that the 05ers will subsequently be in action on 21st August in the opening match of their inaugural UEFA Conference League campaign.

Board member for sport Christian Heidel: “We could hardly have been handed a tougher draw. Nevertheless, we’re looking forward to our trip to Dresden, where a raucous atmosphere is no doubt to be expected. Dynamo secured promotion from the third division in convincing fashion, but after our great season we will also be confident and show great appetite for the competition. We are greatly anticipating this clash, especially since our next highlight awaits on the European stage just a few days after.”
