Friendly at home against AFC Bournemouth

1. FSV Mainz 05 are set to face AFC Bournemouth in a friendly as part of the club’s official season opening festivities on Saturday, 15th August at the MEWA ARENA (15:30 CEST). Bournemouth finished sixth in the Premier League last season, qualifying for the UEFA Europa League for the first time in their history. The 05ers will also be looking forward to welcoming back one of their promotion heroes and former head coach, Marco Rose, who took charge of Bournemouth earlier this summer. 

The two clubs have also agreed to play a second friendly on the same day, in order to allow every player a chance to feature. The second match will be played behind closed doors at the Bruchwegstadion at the WOLFGANG FRANK CAMPUS, with kick-off set for 11:00 CEST. Members of the media will be able to receive accreditation for both matches. 

Men's and women's first-team squads to be presented in the heart of Mainz

The friendly against Bournemouth will form part of the festivities for the 05ers’ official season opening, which will take place one weekend before the 2026/27 competitive season gets underway. On Sunday, 16th August, the club will host its official season opening in the centre of Mainz, together with their fans. Fans can look forward to a fun-filled day in and around the Mainz Cathedral, starting from 13:00 CEST. The event will begin with the official presentation of the men’s and women’s first-team squads, including autograph sessions with both teams. Additional information will follow in due course.
