Maximilian Kinzig signs professional contract
Goalkeeper has been with the academy’s top development squad, the U23s, since 2024

Maximilian Kinzig has signed a professional contract at Bruchweg. The 1.90-metre Berlin-born goalkeeper has been part of Mainz 05’s U23 side, the academy’s top development team, since January 2024 and is the latest highly talented keeper to make the step from the club’s own academy into the first-team setup.
"Follows in the footsteps of a long line of players"
Mainz 05 sporting director Niko Bungert says: "For Mainz 05, it is hugely important to develop players from our own academy and gradually integrate them into the first-team squad. Max Kinzig is a talented young goalkeeper who has earned this next step through strong performances in training and on the pitch. In that respect, he follows in the footsteps of a long line of players who have successfully made their way from the academy to the first team at Mainz."
Maximilian Kinzig says: "I am really looking forward to becoming a permanent member of the first-team squad. I am very grateful to the club and sure that plenty of new experiences lie ahead. For me, it is about taking things one step at a time. Now it is important to keep working hard and stay focused so that I can continue to improve and establish myself within the first-team."
