Nelson Weiper will spend next season at SK Sturm Graz, the current runners-up in the Austrian Bundesliga. Mainz 05 and the Styrian club have agreed a loan deal. Weiper, who made eight appearances in the UEFA Conference League last season, plus one in qualifying, as well as 24 Bundesliga appearances and one outing in the DFB-Pokal, will return to Bruchweg next summer.
Mainz 05 sporting director Niko Bungert said: “Nelly has been and remains an outstanding German striking talent. At a very young age, he has already taken impressive steps with appearances and goals in the Bundesliga. Together with Nelly, we came to the conclusion that regular starts at the highest possible level are now crucial for his development. Sturm Graz were able to present a convincing plan that gives Nelly the opportunity to showcase himself in different competitions and take another step forward next season.
