Pre-season plans begin to take shape

First summer friendlies confirmed

1. FSV Mainz 05 will begin pre-season training with a publich training session at the Bruchwegstadion on Wednesday, 2nd July (17:30 CEST). The players will return to Mainz in the days prior in order to take part in various medical and performance-based tests. 

FSV's first pre-season friendly will be played on Saturday, 5th July (14:00 CEST) at club partner SpVgg Ingelheim, followed by a match away at Oberliga side FC Bayern Alzenau on Friday, 11th July (18:00 CEST). The match at the Mairec-Arena in Alzenau will be organised together with club supplier JAKO. The 05ers will then face 1. FC Saarbrücken on Wednesday, 16th July at the Ludwigsparkstadion (19:00 CEST). Further information on all of the friendlies will follow in due course. 

In partnership with MEWA and the Kitzbühl tourism board, FSV will head to Hopfgarten-Markt, Austria, for a pre-season training camp from 23rd to 30th July. The team will play two friendlies during this time, with one slated for Friday, 25th July and the other on Tuesday, 29th July. The opponents and locations for both matches are still to be announced. 

Season opening at the MEWA ARENA 

The club will host an official season-opening event at the MEWA ARENA on Saturday, 9th August. As part of the celebrations, they will also play a friendly (opponent TBA). The 2025/26 season will get underway with the first round of the DFB-Pokal in mid-August (15th to 18th August, draw still to be conducted). The following week marks the opening weekend of Bundesliga action, with the 05ers set to contest their 17th-straight season in the top flight. The first legs of the Conference League play-offs are set to be played on the 21st and 28th of August.
