"Fitting of the situation we're in"

Niko Bungert: “It feels like a real punch in the gut, as we did everything to deserve a win at home today and all the boys did such a good job. We dominated for a long time, gave it our all and hardly gave up any chances. It’s a tough one to take. The last 20 minutes were tough as we sort of ran out of energy. We actually had everything under control at the back. At the end, it just came down to a long ball and a half chance which went in. It’s quite fitting of the situation we’re in. We need to make sure we keep morale up, which we did well in doing today. I believe we’ll get more points down the line if we keep putting in performances like that.”

Benedict Hollerbach: "We’re really disappointed. We could really have done with a 1-0 win to just take that next step. It’s a real shame. Despite that, it’s important to note that we put in a really good performance, which we’re pleased about. The fans saw what we’re capable of, even if it wasn’t the result they were looking for. We should have made better use of our counter attacks – the chances were there. In the end though, you still have to defend, which we failed to do.”

Silvan Widmer: “It’s really frustrating. We played so well for an hour and showed exactly what we can do. Towards the end we maybe got a bit too passive and Werder equalised, which is always tough to take. It’s important to note the team spirit though. Had we won all three points, we’d be having a different conversation right now. We’re not in a great place at the moment, but I’m sure we’ll find a way out of it. My goal isn’t that important to me – I would rather have got all three points. It was a step in the right direction though. There’s no need for any doubt, instead we need to believe in ourselves even more.”
