“Satisfied and proud”

Match reaction following 1-1 draw versus Eintracht Frankfurt

Niko Bungert: “The feeling we have afterwards is that it was an exciting game and that the atmosphere was excellent. It was a lot of fun and we deserved more from it. I’m completely satisfied and proud of how the team performed. Regardless of our next two results, we will be able to look back on a really strong campaign. We did a lot of things right, but good performances don’t always guarantee that you’ll pick up all three points.”

Stefan Bell: “It was an intense, high-speed game from start to finish. It definitely will have been enjoyable for the fans as well. We didn’t get off to the best start with the injuries and the goal we conceded. The key thing was that we managed to get back on solid footing after the goal and made it to half time. It was an intense game but also a fair one. Both teams had chances in the second half. We definitely managed to create several god chances against a team that’s currently in third place.”

Jonny Burkardt: “I’m definitely a bit relieved that I scored again, but I’m also a bit disappointed because I had a chance to score a second. I would have liked to have put that one in the back of the net as well. But, I’m definitely proud of the team because our performance was excellent. It was a very intense game today and we were the dominant side after the break. Frankfurt had two big chances as well, which is why the result is probably deserved.”

Lasse Rieß: “There have been a couple times already this season where there was a chance that Robin wouldn’t be able to play. I learned this afternoon that he unfortunately wouldn’t be able to feature. I was obviously excited and a little nervous. I went into the game wanting to enjoy it and immediately had the opportunity to make a save. I wasn’t thinking about much else during the game. In the end, the 1-1 draw is deserved. We started well into the second half and kept forcing them to defend. Frankfurt then waited for opportunities to counter, so the game could have gone either way.”
