Hyun-seok Hong joins KAA Gent on loan

The South Korean will return to Gent on loan, having joined FSV from the Belgian outfit in summer 2024

Hong featured 23 times in the Bundesliga for the 05ers last season.

Hyen-seok Hong will join KAA Gent on loan for the remainder of the 2025/26 campaign. The 26-year-old spent the first half of the season on loan at Ligue 1 outfit FC Nantes, and is now set for a return to Belgium, having joined FSV from Gent in summer 2024. The two clubs reached an agreement regarding a loan deal for the midfielder on Monday.

The loan agreement with KAA Gent, currently eighth in the Jupiler Pro League, marks a return to the club where Hong enjoyed perhaps the best phase of his career so far. The now 26-year-old made his debut for South Korea’s senior national side while playing for the Belgian outfit (15 caps to date). Hong remains under contract at FSV until 2028.
