05ers sign William Bøving
The 22-year-old Danish striker puts pen to paper on a four-year deal

1. FSV Mainz have completed the deadline day signing of Danish striker William Bøving. The 22-year-old joins from Austrian champions Strum Graz as a two-time winner of both the league and cup. Last season he made 42 competitive appearances for Graz, scoring 11 goals and providing ten assists.
Despite his young age, Bøving already has a lot of experience on the European stage. He played 40 games (8 goals, 4 assists) across all three major European competitions for Graz and before that FC Copenhagen. The striker has played for all of Denmark’s youth teams since U16 level, most recently featuring at the U21 EUROs this summer, in which Denmark got to the quarter-finals. Bøving has signed a four-year contract with Mainz, with the finer details of his transfer remaining confidential as per an agreement between the two clubs.

05ers sporting director Niko Bungert on Monday afternoon alongside the last of the summer signings.
“William is exactly what we are looking for. He is hard working, intelligent, and deadly in front of goal – the sort of player that can really help us. He’s only 22 as well, which means he has the chance to develop even further,” said sporting director Niko Bungert.
William Bøving said: “I had three great years with Sturm Graz, but I felt like now was the right time to take the next step in my career. The move to Mainz is a very big, important decision for both me and my family. I’m excited to join a great club with a large fan-base, as well as looking forward to meeting my teammates, who I hope I can help to achieve their goals on the pitch as soon as possible.”
