William Bøving will join 1. FC Nürnberg for the coming season. The 23-year-old Dane, who moved to Bruchweg last summer, will spend one year on loan at the Franconian second-division club. Bøving made a total of 18 competitive appearances for Mainz 05 last season. In the current campaign, he featured in the first-round DFB-Pokal tie against VfB Krieschow and scored the goal that made it 9-0.
Mainz 05 sporting director Niko Bungert said: “After an initial period of adjustment, William has developed brilliantly over the past few months and also showed his qualities during pre-season. Nevertheless, the competition for places in our attack is extremely strong, which is why he expressed the wish to go out on loan with the prospect of more starts. We believe we have found the right club for that in 1. FC Nürnberg and wish Willi all the best during his time there. We will follow his development closely and look forward to welcoming him back next summer after another step forward in his development.”
