2026/27 fixtures: Mainz kick off against newly promoted side

Standout fixture on Carnival weekend, season finale at home to Stuttgart

Mainz 05’s first-team squad will once again begin the 2026/27 season as a Bundesliga side.

The German Football League (DFL) released the fixture list for the 2026/27 season on Thursday afternoon, with the campaign set to get underway on the weekend of 28 to 30 August. As they did last season, 1. FSV Mainz 05 will begin in front of their home fans, hosting SC Paderborn. After the opener at the MEWA ARENA, Mainz will travel to Hamburg’s Volksparkstadion.

As always, special attention will be on the meetings with Eintracht Frankfurt. The first Rhine Main derby comes early, on matchday 3. For the return fixture in the new year, the schedule has thrown up a real Carnival highlight. Just as Mainz enters its famous fifth season, the 05ers will head to Frankfurt for an away game of all places.
