Bungert: “I take my hat off to them”

Niko Bungert: “There was some real fight from us today despite the last two weeks and despite the game on Thursday. The team played to win today. I take my hat off to them. We gave up very little against a team with very good individual players. Despite getting unlucky and conceding, no one let their head drop. It gives us a very good feeling going into the next weeks and months. It was a challenge for all of us, but everyone did a great job throughout pre-season. We're still in the DFB-Pokal, still in the Conference League, and we could definitely have achieved more from our Bundesliga games. What annoys us today is that the first penalty shout wasn't given. VAR should have taken a bit more time to assess that correctly."

Danny da Costa: “It was actually a good game. It was annoying to go behind from a deflected shot, as we didn’t give much up across the 90 minutes. We got into their box a lot and put in a lot of crosses. Often it was the final ball that let us down, although we did have the game under control. I’d prefer to not have a break as we’ve been playing well recently. No one went down with cramp and we’re all in good condition. I’m happy to take the opportunity to switch off a little though."
