"That's Not the Standard We Expect of Ourselves"

Niko Bungert: "We struggled to get into the game and deserved to fall behind. But after the opening 15 minutes, the team showed tremendous character and deservedly fought their way back to level terms. We were much more proactive in the second half until those two quick goals dealt us a crushing blow. However, the third goal leaves a bitter taste. The replay clearly shows a handball, and that feels somewhat unfair. Still, the reality is that when you concede four goals, you make life difficult for yourselves. That's exactly what we need to work on."

Eric Martel: "We responded really well to the setbacks in the first half and looked more likely to take the lead than Leverkusen. It's difficult to pinpoint exactly what went wrong with the goals we conceded. The fourth goal in particular really took the wind out of our sails. Now we need to analyse our mistakes and make sure we're more solid at the back going forward."

Stefan Posch: "Once again, we've conceded too many goals. That's not the defensive standard we expect of ourselves. We're making it far too easy for our opponents to score. We need to learn to defend more compactly. Of course, Leverkusen's third goal played right into their hands. If we'd taken the lead ourselves, we could have sat deeper and stayed more compact instead of having to open up like we did today.
