Kacper Potulski has signed a long-term contract with 1. FSV Mainz 05. The Polish youth international will continue his development at the Bruchweg over the coming years.

The 17-year-old arrived at FSV in 2023 from Legia Warsaw. The 1.95m tall defender will move up from the U19s to the club’s U23s for the 2025/26 season, having already made four appearances in the fourth division last term. Potulski will also train with the first team for parts of pre-season, and played 45 minutes in the opening friendly last Saturday against Ingelheim.

Potulski played alongside Stefan Bell at the back in the first pre-season friendly in Ingelheim.

“He stands out especially due to his ambition and strong willingness to learn”

Meikel Schönweitz, technical director at Mainz 05, commented: “Kacper has made great progress over the last two years and has the ideal physical attributes for a central defender. He stands out especially due to his ambition and strong willingness to learn. To help him take the next step in his development, we have already promoted him to our highest academy team. He has already had the opportunity to showcase his abilities in training sessions and friendlies with the first team. We want to gradually bring him up to this level. We are excited to tie down another promising young player from our youth academy for the long term. Together with him, we want to continue pushing towards the goal of him playing for Mainz 05 at the MEWA-Arena."

Kacper Potulski said: “I feel very comfortable here in Mainz, both personally and professionally, and I am very grateful to the club for the opportunity and trust they have given me. I am looking forward to continuing to work hard to become a professional footballer here.”
