Phillipp Mwene extends his contract with Mainz

Full-back Phillipp Mwene has extended his contract with 1. FSV Mainz 05. The 32-year-old Austrian international, who played his 100th Bundesliga game for Mainz last weekend, will remain at Mainz beyond the end of the season.

Sporting director Niko Bungert said: “Phillipp has been an important part of our squad for a number of years now, both on the pitch and in the dressing room. He is an outstanding character and has earned great merit for our club through his performances and dedication. All the more reason why we’re delighted Phillipp will be staying with us beyond the summer.”

Phillipp Mwene said: “I’m delighted to have extended by contract at 1. FSV Mainz 05. The club and the fans place a lot of trust in me, which means a great deal. I feel at home here and am highly motivated to continue giving my all for the team and our shared goals.”
