“We got the job done”

The 05ers share their thoughts after Dresden and look ahead to Europe

Niko Bungert: “We already know how we want to distribute playing time and the boys who may have been surprised to find themselves on the pitch today did well. Of course, the next two weeks will see a lot of personnel changes. It was nice to see that it worked over the 90 minutes today and fortunately we have a good reason to keep rotating this season.”

Nadiem Amiri: “Set pieces are important and the hard work paid off. Fortunately, that was enough to decide the game. We took on the fight against a good opponent. It is a fantastic atmosphere here, which you have to overcome to get through to the next round. We conquered it though, so hats off to the boys. Many players have gained match practice, which is important because we need everyone right now. I'm now looking forward to the European games, just like all the fans and the whole club.”

Paul Nebel: “It wasn’t bad today; it’s a tricky place to come and play. We got the job done though in the first competitive game, which will do us the world of good. It took us a while to get going at the beginning, but that's normal. By the end of the first half, we were right in the game. We gave it our all and managed to keep a clean sheet. Of course, we would have liked to have made it 2-0, something I could have done before the break. It’s brilliant that we’re off to Trondheim next, playing football with Mainz on the European stage. We want to put ourselves in a good position for the home leg next week."
