“We’re not a team that stays down, we get back up”
Reaction to the 05ers’ Pokal defeat to Stuttgart

Mainz 05 0 - 2 VfB stuttgart
Niko Bungert: "The game went like so many others lately. We're not playing terribly, but we're not playing well either. Small mistakes are punished ruthlessly. We played against an opponent who was virtually flawless and showed their individual quality at the right moments. It hurts right now because we had higher expectations and hoped for a different outcome. But this won't get us down. We’ve stumbled a few times during this period. But we're not a team that stays down, we get back up. We have the right characters for that - guys who want to take responsibility for the team and the club. They want to fight their way out of this. Last season, a lot of things were easy for us, but right now, it's not so easy. We'll keep pushing and give it our all on Saturday to try and turn things around."
Andreas Hanche-Olsen: "This one is hard to swallow. We fought hard and gave it our all, but things just aren't going our way at the moment. We're struggling to score goals and giving away too many big chances. We're lacking that flow right now. The energy is there, but our decision making in front of their goal and in front of our own isn’t right. That's what decided the game today. We have a good mentality, but it's not enough at the moment. I'm sure we'll bounce back."
Paul Nebel: "We had high hopes for today and wanted to show what we're capable of, dominate the game and win. We didn't manage that. Everyone gave it their all and pushed hard, but we made individual mistakes and were too wasteful in attack. That's why we deserved to lose. We have a fantastic team though that wants to give something back to the fans. Maybe we feel a bit too tense mentally sometimes. We'll keep trying, work hard and try to make fewer mistakes."
