Hyun-seok Hong joins Nantes on loan

The South Korean will play for the French side during the upcoming season

Hyun-seok Hong will spend the 2025/26 season at French top-tier side Nantes. The South Korean midfielder has joined the Canaries on loan. Hong, who signed for Mainz in summer 2024, made 23 competitive appearances for the 05ers last season.

“It’s important for Hyun-seok that he gets playing time. Because of the stiff competition for places, it’s difficult for him to get enough minutes here. That’s why we agreed to loan him out to Nantes. The coach knows him well, and Hyun-seok wanted to go out on loan, so we wouldn’t stand in his way. We wish him all the best for his time in France and are looking forward to him returning to Bruchweg next summer as an even better player,” said sporting director Niko Bungert.
