FSV to face Bochum in the second round of the cup

FSV Mainz 05 will travel to VfL Bochum in the second round of the 2026/27 DFB-Pokal. The tie was confirmed during Saturday evening’s draw at the German Football Museum. The 16 second-round matches will be played on 27 and 28 October. It will be the 05ers’ third DFB-Pokal meeting with the second-division side. Bochum prevailed on penalties at the MEWA ARENA in December 2020, before Mainz suffered a 3-1 defeat away from home in January 2022.

05 sporting director Niko Bungert commented on the draw: “We all know that a floodlit match in Bochum promises a fantastic football atmosphere. It is also an attractive draw for our fans, and we are looking forward to seeing plenty of Mainz supporters there. We will not underestimate our opponents in this cup tie, but as the Bundesliga side, we naturally want to come out on top.”
