Eric Martel suffers medial ligament injury

Eric Martel suffered a medial ligament injury in his right knee during yesterday’s friendly against Shabab Al Ahli Dubai. Initial imaging tests at the hospital in Kufstein confirmed the diagnosis. As a result, the defensive midfielder will be unavailable for the next few weeks.

The length of his absence will depend on his individual recovery process. Martel will remain with the team at the training camp in Hopfgarten and, as planned, travel back to Mainz with the squad next Wednesday.
