Burkardt added to Germany squad for Nations League fixtures

Having been surprisingly left out of the initial squad, Jonny Burkardt, who scored 18 goals in 29 Bundesliga games this season, was called up to the Germany squad on Tuesday afternoon for the Final Four of the Nations League. FSV’s striker, with three caps under his belt so far, has replaced Angelo Stiller in Julian Nagelsmann’s squad after VfB Stuttgart’s central midfielder pulled out due to injury.

There are now two 05ers in the Germany squad that will meet in Herzogenaurach on Friday to prepare for the semi-final against Portugal in Munich. Jonny’s teammate Nadiem Amiri was already part of the 26-man squad.
