"Pleasing to have something to play for next week"
Post-match reaction from the 05ers following the win in Bochum

VFL BOCHUM 1-4 MAINZ 05
Niko Bungert: “We are in the situation that we wanted to be for the final matchday. Today’s performance was a good one and next week we face a really tough opponent, so we are looking forward to it. We definitely did not produce our greatest display, but controlled proceedings regardless, while not giving much away and ultimately fully deserved the victory. It’s a shame as a football fan to see a club like Bochum with their atmospheric stadium have to play in the second division next season. Full credit to them, nonetheless.”
Paul Nebel: “We gave a good showing and did well to not let them get going. It’s pleasing to take all three points and therefore have something to play for next week. If we win our last game then I think we can reflect on a great season. In order to do that, though, we need to continue to dig in because Leverkusen are a top-tier side and we certainly do not want to allow this season to fizzle out.”
Nadiem Amiri: “We are really happy to have finally rewarded ourselves and demonstrated some efficiency. We remained alert today and gave a good display to earn this win when faced with a great atmosphere. I repeatedly work on set-pieces in training and was pleased to get one in that position again today. Both teams had everything to play for so that didn’t make it easy, but we stuck to our way of playing and gave barely anything away. We are now in the position we want to be for the final game and have the chance to cap off an unbelievable campaign. We have brought this team and club to a whole new level. Our stadium is sure to be electric once again next weekend.”
