Bell signs contract extension with the 05ers
Mainz’s longest-serving player puts pen to paper on a deal for a further year

Stefan Bell will be wearing the colours of 1. FSV Mainz 05 once again next season after the centre-back extended his contract until 2026. Bell has been at the club since 2007, progressing through the youth ranks before becoming a staple of the first team side. He has racked up a total of 307 competitive appearances for the 05ers across the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and Europa League qualifying, as well as the competition proper. The 33-year-old has featured 17 times for FSV in the current campaign.
Mainz 05 sporting director Niko Bungert: “Stefan Bell is a key component in the history of this club and the past few years of his career have been particularly resonant for the motto of Mainz 05, which is to never give up. Stefan is not only an incredible guy but also a player who deserves sporting recognition and his has really proven his worth once again this season. We are so pleased to have him here with us for a further year.”
Mainz’s overall development over the last few years has been fun to be part of and I am really excited to continue to be able to contribute both on and off the pitch. After 18 years together, the trust between me and the club is strong and the talks that took place were positive and relaxed as a result. We now want to see out an already special season right to the last and then build on that for the next campaign,” explained Stefan Bell.
