“We can be proud of our performance”

Niko Bungert: “We played a really, really good game today and allowed next to nothing against a team packed with individual quality. Our defence did a superb job, and going forward we kept applying pressure and worked our way closer to the opposition’s goal a lot. We fully deserved to be leading for a long time. In the end, Leverkusen’s quality showed as they scored the equaliser to make it 1-1. Of course, that hurt to concede so late, but at the same time, we’re proud of today’s performance. We know we’re on the right track and that we have to keep going like this. We’ll always have a chance against top teams in the future as well.”

Stefan Posch: “Right now it feels like we’ve lost two points. We allowed very little, did almost everything we set out to do and really should have seen the lead through to the end. Then we conceded shortly before full-time, but we can still be proud of our performance. If you look at the points we’ve picked up in recent weeks, you can see that we’re doing a good job. If we can maintain that, I’m confident we’ll achieve our goals at the end of the season.”

Sheraldo Becker: “Of course, we wanted to take all three points home with us, but unfortunately it didn’t work out in the end. Still, I’m proud of the team and the performance we showed today. Before my goal, I saw that Batzi played Paul through brilliantly. I was free in the centre and just had to wait for Paul’s cross, which I finished first time without thinking too much about it. It was a good goal. We have to give everything again next week to make sure we win at home.”
