Second-highest revenue in club history announced at members’ meeting

Monday’s annual members’ meeting at the MEWA ARENA saw Mainz 05 present their annual figures for 2024/25 and confirm a new electoral committee

“Not rich, but healthy” – that was the message from the club’s leadership at the 1. FSV Mainz 05 members’ meeting on Monday evening in the MEWA ARENA. During the session, the club presented its financial results for the 2024/25 season, reporting an annual surplus of €833,000. Total revenue amounted to €141.7 million – the second-highest in the club’s history – while the equity ratio stood at 53.4%.

Around 600 members attended in person at the MEWA ARENA, with up to 1,000 further eligible voters following via live stream. The hybrid meeting also included the election of a new electoral committee. Serving on the committee for the next four years will be Sina Schäfer, Dr Udo Seyfarth, André Gerhardt, Patrick Werner and Sina Müller-Cunradi.

Hofmann: “The past financial year was a success both on and off the pitch.”

The meeting was chaired by the head of the supervisory board, Dr Volker Baas, who commended the board and the club for their “consistently responsible financial management”. In his report, he outlined the supervisory board’s work across four committees, where it had carried out its oversight and advisory duties on strategic matters.

Club and board chairman Stefan Hofmann emphasised the positive overall development of 1. FSV Mainz 05 in his address to the members: “The past financial year was a success both on and off the pitch. We are growing in all areas. You can feel the connection with Mainz 05 everywhere – we have made our way back into people’s hearts.” He added that the club would use this success to continue investing in its infrastructure, referring to the recently granted planning permission for the new operations building at the Wolfgang Frank Campus and the path now agreed with the city towards Mainz 05’s future purchase of the MEWA ARENA.

Heidel: “This club sticks together when it matters”

Jochen Röttgermann, board member for marketing and sales, focused in particular on increases in ticketing and merchandise revenue: “We’re seeing growth, for example, in the higher demand for tickets to home and away games, in rising membership numbers and in shirt sales. To survive in the medium to long term, we need this growth – ideally across all areas. Growing moderately and with good judgement is the best foundation for a successful future in the Bundesliga.”

Christian Heidel, board member for sport and communications, summed up the past financial year from a sporting perspective and assessed the current situation of the first team: “Qualifying for Europe was a huge success for Mainz 05. We currently sit third in the Conference League – Europe is something for all of us to enjoy. But being 17th in the Bundesliga is also a harsh reality. There’s no dressing that up. We’re there for a reason, despite all the factors involved. We know we can play better football, and we know we have to. Matchday 11 is not yet the time to declare that we’re in a relegation battle, but we’re fully aware of the situation. We’ve always shown how we can turn things around: this club sticks together when it matters. It’s been that way in the past and it will be the same now – we’ll pull together, get ourselves out of trouble and come through it as one,” said Christian Heidel.
