“You simply can’t describe this emotion”

Martin Schmidt: “It was an important game – you’ve seen what it’s all about before. It’s great when you can relax whilst watching at the end. However, it wasn’t that relaxed for the whole 90 minutes. The head coach showed what we’re looking to do with the ball with the starting line-up. We scored at the right moments and thoroughly deserved to win having withstood the pressure.”

Brajan Gruda: “We knew how crucial that is today. The head coach brought lots of positive energy again in training and ahead of the game today. He told me that I should work hard defensively and can do whatever I want going forwards. It wasn’t easy at the start, but Robin then gave me a couple of tips, which relaxed me. It helps to hear that from the older players. We got a bit lucky with the goal, but Jonny did outstandingly. It’s wonderful to see the ball go right in the corner. It was my first goal at the MEWA ARENA – you simply can’t describe this emotion. Everything is still possible – we’ll keep going and give our all. We want to continue moving upwards – that’s clear.”

Jonny Burkardt: “The start of the game was relatively even – not a lot happened until we went ahead. Then we scored from a set piece, which are now a real strength of ours. We doubled our lead during an important phase after the break and then we defended really well. I would’ve liked to have scored today too, but it was still a perfect day all in all.”
