Schmidt: “We need to move on from this”

Martin Schmidt: “You can summarise it simply: We wanted to be brave today, but we were too brave, partly overconfident as well. We got a thumping as a result. It was actually a good, open game in which we kept getting chances until they made it 4-1. At the end of the day, Bayern could have even scored another goal or two. That was too naive. Now we’ve not just missed out on three points, but also damaged our goal difference. It was a lesson in how not to play here. If you concede three or four goals, you need to sit a little bit deeper as a team and stay compact. We weren’t able to do that today. I think that hardly anyone will be in the mood to talk on the bus – this result hurts. We need to move on from this – we can wallow for one night, but then things keep going against Bochum. We’ve now got games against evenly-matched opponents – we won’t let ourselves wallow for long and we’ll rise again. 

Robin Zentner: "There's no use dwelling on this game for any longer than necessary. We can talk about it again at the end of the season. From tomorrow, our focus will be on Bochum and we won't be thinking about anything else. We will obviously analyse the game, but we need to put the result out of our minds."

Silvan Widmer: "We weren't aggressive enough and afforded our opponents far too much space. As soon as they had the ball, they had several options available. There was nothing to be seen today of the solid defensive performances we've put in recently. We are extremely disappointed with the result and our performance. Overall, we just weren't there. We'll need to put the result behind us and focus on next week's game against Bochum, where we have another chance to add to our tally. We will analyse today's game and move on – the most important thing is that we have another opportunity coming up."
