Twelve Zerofivers called-up for internationals
Niakhaté and Mateta to play against Aaron
The third international break of the season will be upon us after the Zerofivers take on SC Freiburg on the weekend and 12 Mainz players have been chosen to represent their respective countries. Both Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Pierre Kunde Malong will play in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers as the Ivory Coast take on Guinea (18/11/18) and Cameroon play Morocco (16/11/18). Cameroon will then play in a friendly against Brazil in England on November 20th.
Alexandru Maxim will play for Romania against Lithuania (17/11/18) and Montenegro (20/11/18) in the UEFA Nations League. Robin Quaison will travel with Sweden and play against Turkey (17/11/18) and against Russia (20/11/18). Leandro Barreiro, who recently signed a new contract with the club will travel with the Luxembourg national team, who will play against Belarus (15/11/18) and then three days later against Moldova (18/11/18).
France U21s vs Spain U21s
Aaron Martin, Jean-Philippe Mateta, Moussa Niakhaté and Levin Öztunali have all been called up to their respective nation’s U21 squads. Aaron Martin’s Spain will face Jean-Philippe Mateta’s and Moussa Niakhaté’s France (19/11/18). Spain U21s will also take on Denmark U21s (14/11/18) in a friendly, whilst France U21s will play against Croatia U21s (15/11/18). Öztunali and the Germany U21s will face the Netherlands U21s (16/11/18) and then Italy U21s (19/11/18).
Both Finn Dahmen and Ahmet Gürleyen have both been called-up to the Germany U20 squad who will face Italy (15/11/18) and England (19/11/18). Jonathan Burkardt has been picked to play for the Germany U19s who will play in a tournament in Armenia. The 18-year-old will participate in the matches against Portugal (14/11/18), the Netherlands (17/11/18) and Armenia (19/11/18).
