Taking a breather before the second half of the season starts
The Zerofivers got a day off after returning from their training camp in Marbella. Two open training sessions before the away game in Stuttgart.
At 18:00 CET on Sunday evening, the Mainz 05 players left the Bruchweg having flown back from Spain. The trip consisted of numerous intensive training sessions and three friendlies under the sun, but the players now have two days off; a chance to take a breather before Sandro Schwarz’s squad start the second half of the season. They will play VfB Stuttgart away on Saturday afternoon (15:30 CET).
On Tuesday afternoon, Schwarz and his team will take to the training grounds at Bruchweg for the first of their two open training sessions prior to the start of the second half of the season. Although the friendlies have certainly caused mixed feelings among the players, they could not hide the positive overall impression. Development and progress in all areas was the aim during the time in Spain. There is now increased competition and the morale in the team is still very good.
The Zerofivers will have a chance to start the season off well if they can get a victory against Stuttgart. One week later, Mainz will invite FC Nürnberg to the Opel Arena (26/01/19, 15:30 CET).
