Shabani signs pro contract

The midfield talent has been with Mainz since 2015

Eniss Shabani has signed his first professional contract with 1. FSV Mainz 05. The 18-year-old talent, who has been in the Mainz youth academy since January 2015, has signed until 2025. Shabani is one of five players in the academy to have signed a professional contract this season, along with Lasse Rieß, Ben Bobzien, Nelson Weiper and Phillip Schulz. In addition, he was recently nominated for the Germany U19s for the first time.

Shabani was named in the first team squad against Borussia Dortmund back in March

“Eniss Shabani is the next Mainz youth talent to have been given the chance to break into the Bundesliga. He has been with us since 2015 and has trained with the first team in the second half of this season. He has also made many appearances for the U23s this season. He now has the chance to take in the next big step in his career,” said Martin Schmidt.

The door to professional football is open for Eniss if he continues to work hard

“Eniss has continued to develop in his seven years at the club and has been disciplined and consistent in his progression. He has earned his chance in the first team. The door to professional football is open for Eniss if he continues to work hard,” said Volker Kersting, the manager of the Mainz academy.
