Rouven Schröder extends contract until 2022
Sporting director prematurely extends contract
Prior to the Rhein-Main-derby, there was some good news as it was revealed that sporting director Rouven Schröder extended his contract until 2022 at Mainz. The board of directors and the 43-year-old agreed to prematurely extend his contract that was due to end in 2020. Rouven Schröder has been the sporting director at Mainz since the summer of 2016.
“Rouven Schröder is the right person to be responsible for sporting matters at Mainz 05. In his role as planner and developer of our squad, he has demonstrated complete competence. He has also made a significant contribution towards the positive economic development of the entire club. Rouven Schröder represents competence, consistency and directness. He has a trusting relationship with the club. The early contract renewal is a sign of how much we like him, "says Detlev Höhne, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Mainz 05.
Schröder: “Self-confident role in the Bundesliga”
Sporting Director Rouven Schröder said: "I would like to thank the Supervisory Board for its confidence in me. Mainz 05 is growing ever closer towards its new structures, which is an important basis for further sporting development. We are in the process of developing our role as a training and development club, and together we are passionate about the club and play a self-confident role in the Bundesliga, so I am very confident and happy to be part of this project."
