Rieß extends his contract

The goalkeeper has signed a new contract with club after ten years at the Bruchweg.

Lasse Rieß has extended his contract until 2025. The 20-year-old goalkeeper has spent ten years in the Mainz youth academy and is the third choice keeper in the first team. He is a regular starter in the Regionalliga Südwest for the U23s.

Sporting director Martin Schmidt said: “Lasse has made great strides since arriving at the club. He is currently the first choice keeper for the U23s and is having a strong season. He has worked his way up into the first team and has been on the bench a few times this season. We are delighted to continue our journey together and we hope we can further his great talent so he can fulfil his potential here.”

Mainz has been Reiss’ home since 2012

I am under the best possible conditions in order to further my development

“I am in the best hands at this club. For a young goalkeeper, it is one of the best clubs in the league. I have received fantastic training here and I am under the best possible conditions in order to further my development in this trusting environment. There is nothing better than extending your contract with your home club. I am extremely lucky,” said Rieß.
