Omer Hanin signs for Mainz
21-year-old Goalkeeper from Israel joins club
Goalkeeper Omer Hanin has signed for 1. FSV Mainz ahead of the 2019/20 season. The 21-year-old, who is currently at Isreali first-division side Hapoel Hadera and has played for Israel’s youth sides since the age of 18, will strengthen Mainz’s goalkeeping contingent for next season. Hanin, who has both an Israeli and Portuguese passport, has signed a four-year contract at Mainz.
“Omer Hanin came to our attention after performing well for Israel’s youth sides. He also impressed us during several training sessions in Mainz and showed that he is someone who is driven and willing to learn. He has already started learning German and has set himself goals that he would like to reach here. Omer will get his chance to impress us with the U23s,” said sporting director Rouven Schröder.
“I was very proud to be approached by Mainz 05. The club’s motto ‘We are living our dream’ perfectly describes my feelings about moving here. I’m really excited to get to know Mainz’s footballing philosophies and German football in general,” remarked Hanin.
