Mainz 05 apply for postponement of Augsburg fixture
Insufficient number of fit and eligible players available for the weekend
1. FSV Mainz 05 have, as of Wednesday morning, submitted an application to the Deutsche Fußball Liga (DFL) for the postponement of the Bundesliga fixture away to Augsburg, currently scheduled for 15:30 CET on March 12th.
Mainz 05 currently do not have the minimum amount of fit and eligible players available to play the game.
The DFL’s current regulations state that more than 15 eligible players from either the first team or youth teams must be available for the match to take place, and that of the 15, nine must be first-team players, and there must be at least one goalkeeper.
The DFL postponed Mainz’s last planned Bundesliga fixture, at home to Borussia Dortmund, due to positive Coronavirus cases for 12 first-team players (including all goalkeepers). This fixture has been rescheduled for March 16th, with kick-off at 18:30 CET.
