Jannik Huth leaves Mainz to join SC Paderborn
The goalkeeper signs a three year contract with newly promoted Bundesliga side
Jannik Huth will leave 1. FSV Mainz 05 to join SC Paderborn for the start of next season. The goalkeeper has signed a three year contract until 2022 with the newly promoted Bundesliga side. Huth joined the Zerofivers’ academy in 2008 and has gone on to make seven Bundesliga appearances for the club as well as an Europa League appearance. Both clubs have agreed an undisclosed fee for the transfer.
“Jannik has spent the last twelve years at Mainz 05 and has shown fantastic character as an absolute team player over the course of his time at the club. He was always there for the team when we needed him, always worked hard and gave everything he had both in training and matches. The current competition between Florian Müller and Robin Zentner for our current starting berth has unfortunately only given Jannik a few opportunities to start matches. However, he now has the opportunity in Paderborn to become a starting goalkeeper in the Bundesliga and we didn’t want to obstruct him from this opportunity. We’re delighted for Jannick and look forward to seeing him again in the Bundesliga soon,” said Zerofivers sporting director Rouven Schröder.
