International duty for eleven Zerofivers

Qualifiers, friendlies and Africa Cup

Eleven Mainz players will represent their countries.

The season isn’t over yet for eleven Mainz players, as they have been called up to represent their countries this summer. Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Kunde Malong have been named in their respective countries’ preliminary squads ahead of the Africa Cup 2019. Gbamin and the Ivory Coast will face Gambia in a friendly in France on Friday 7th June ahead of the tournament, where they will play Morocco, South Africa and Namibia in the group stage at the end of the month.  Kunde Malong’s Cameroon have been named in a group with Guinea, Ghana and Benin.

Karim Onisiwo, Alexandru Maxim and Robin Quaison will join up with their national teams at training camps before qualification games for the 2020 European Championship. Onisiwo will represent Austria as they face Slovenia in Klagenfurt on Friday 7th June and against North Macedonia on Monday 10th June in Skopje. Alexandru Maxim and the Romanian national team will face Norway in Oslo on Friday 7th June and Malta on Monday 10th June. Robin Quaison will face Malta with Sweden in Stockholm (Friday 7th June) before travelling to Madrid to face Spain (Monday 10th June).

Florian Müller and Levin Öztunali (Germany U21s), Jean-Philippe Mateta and Moussa Niakhaté (France U21s) and Aarón Martín (Spain U21s) will join up with their sides’ training camps ahead of this summer’s U21 European Championship in Italy and San Marino.

Meanwhile, Leandro Barreiro and Luxembourg have three friendlies in store: against Madagascar in Luxembourg on Sunday 2nd June, against Lithuania in Vilnius on Friday 7th June and against Ukraine in Lviv on Monday 10th June.
