Two Mainz players in Silvan Widmer and Jae-Sung Lee were able to celebrate victories with their respective national sides as the international break came to an end. The Swiss national team and 05 skipper Widmer defeated the Czech Republic on the final matchday of the Nations League 2-1, ensuring they would remain in League A. Jae-sung Lee and the Korean national team were 1-0 victors in Seoul, beating Cameroon in a friendly.

Focus on Freiburg

While Widmer played the entire match against the Czech Republic for the "Nati", Lee was substituted at the beginning of the second half of the match and was possibly able to get a bit of rest before upcoming fixtures with Mainz 05, starting on Saturday, as FSV face an away day at SC Freiburg. Lee and Widmer, who are expected to return to Mainz on Wednesday, will have their sights fully set on this weekend’s game.
