Five Zerofivers on international duty

Widmer, Onisiwo, Lee, Barreiro and Bobzien have all been nominated

Widmer's Switzerland have two Nations League matches to contend with.

A total of five Mainz players have been selected to represent their respective national teams during the upcoming International break. Silvan Widmer (Switzerland), Karim Onisiwo (Austria), Jae-Sung Lee (South Korea), Leandro Barreiro (Luxembourg) and Ben Bobzien (Germany u20s), will all be away on international duty.

Three of the players have UEFA Nations League matches to look forward to. Widmer’s Switzerland have tests against Spain (Saturday, 24th September) and the Czech Republic (Tuesday 27th September), whereas Karim Onisiwo’s Austria are in action against France (Thursday, 22nd September) and Croatia (Sunday, 25th September). It’s a trip to Turkey for Leandro Barreiro’s Luxembourg (Thursday, 22nd September), followed by a home match against Lithuania (Sunday, 25th September).

Jae-Sung Lee is travelling to Seoul to be with the South Korea national team, who have friendlies against Costa Rica (Friday, 23rd September) and Cameroon (Tuesday, 27th September). Ben Bobzien has been nominated for the Germany u20s, who have friendlies against Poland (Friday, 23rd September) and Romania (Monday, 26th September).

Eight players from the Mainz youth academy have also been selected to represent their countries.
