Derby trip to Frankfurt moved to Sunday, 12th May
Rhine-Main Derby against Eintracht Frankfurt on matchday 33 pushed back due to Europa League semi-final.
The German Football League (DFL) have announced a change in fixture scheduling for 1. FSV Mainz 05’s match away against local rivals Eintracht Frankfurt on matchday 33. After the Eagles secured their place in the Europa League semi-finals, the DFL announced the Rhine-Main Derby will now take place on Sunday, 12th May (18:00 CEST).
The DFL have made this alteration after Frankfurt secured their place in the last four of the Europa League. Frankfurt face Chelsea away from home in the second leg on Thursday, 9th May and therefore won’t travel back to Germany until a day later. To allow Frankfurt to return and recover, Mainz’s trip to the Commerzbank Arena has been pushed back.
