Beierlorzer: "Tough to take"
Achim Beierlorzer and Marco Rose gave us their thought's after FSV's 3-1 away loss to Gladbach.
Achim Beierlorzer: “Of course it’s tough for us to take, because we put a lot into this game and tried to close them down in midfield. We wanted to break up Gladbach’s game and then we got our noses in front. But we conceded from a set-piece. At the break, we agreed that we needed to be more aggressive in midfield. We didn’t do this and Gladbach attack with dynamism from deep. The counters on both sides got more dangerous. Sommer made a great save to deny Brosinski. It’s definitely annoying that we went 2-1 from another set-piece, because we work on that in training and clearly discuss it. We still had our chances, even though Gladbach had more opportunities. We could have taken something from this game. We need to concentrate more and be more aware. We’ll go over this. Congrats to Gladbach.”
Marco Rose: “In my opinion, it was a deserved win and a decent performance. We started well and knew what to expect from a tough match. Their goal was a setback, but we reacted well and stayed in the game. Our approach was good and getting the equaliser was important. We came out well after break and made it 2-1, because we were more alert at the set-piece. We needed to create a couple more chances. However, we deserved to win. The boys saw that it’s worth it to invest a lot into it.
